Now busy preparing to make his next horror thriller, Adam Wingard has found someone he wants to co-star with Nat Wolff: The Leftovers*’ Margaret Qualley is in talks for *Death Note{ =nofollow}.

Wingard, the man behind You’re Next and The Guest, has Wolff playing a student in a big city who discovers a supernatural notebook bearing dark powers. It allows him to kill anyone he wishes by writing the victim’s name in the book and sets him on a path as a self-styled vigilante, taking out anyone he believes to be evil. But you know what they say about great power… In this case it leads to great irresponsibility and the attention of a reclusive police officer, sparking a chase between the two.

The current draft of the script is by Jeremy Slater, based on Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata’s manga series, which has already become an anime TV adaptation and three live-action films in Japan. Qualley, who also appeared in Palo Alto, will next be seen in Shane Black’s The Nice Guys alongside Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe.
