Adam Sandler Joins Ridiculous Six

Comedy westerns seem suddenly to be all the rage. Following Will Ferrell's **Casa De Mi Padre **and the news that the follow-up to **Black Dynamite will be along Blazing Saddles lines, Adam Sandler is now getting in on the action, with a spoof called **Ridiculous Six.

Not much is known about the film so far, except that it's not a sequel to Ridiculouses 1 to 5 (surely we'd have heard of those). But the title and the genre have been confirmed by studio, Paramount. What sounds likely is some sort of riff on The Magnificent Seven, maybe with a disparate group of gunslingers called in to defend a town against... someone mean. Presumably in this case the gunslingers would be rubbish, so is it possible we can expect something akin to Three Amigos**!**?

Sandler's Happy Madison is, of course, the production company wrangling the project, and it's been set up at Paramount after a mysterious 11th hour move from Sony. Sandler will co-write with his frequent collaborator Tim Herlihy, who dates back to Sandler's Saturday Night Live era and worked on the screenplays for Sandler's early, funny films like Happy Gilmore and The Wedding Singer. Lately his role has tended to be executive producer, although he did have a hand in writing 2008's Bedtime Stories.

Shooting starts next April, for a release in the spring of 2014.
