Mega-successful bonk-buster 50 Shades Of Grey has now sold 31 million copies around the world, so you can just feel that movie adaptation getting closer. The film rights were sold back in March, but today comes news that producers Mike De Luca and Dana Brunetti have won a bidding war to produce the film.

The book, for the three people who still haven't succumbed to peer pressure and read it, concerns Anastasia, a college graduate who captures the interest of a young, handsome billionaire (ha!) called Christian Grey. Only catch, as far as the virginal Anastasia is concerned, is that Grey is into BDSM and wants her to sign a contract promising to be his submissive. Which comes as a bit of a shock to her system (not literally; electrocution is not actually included).

De Luca and Brunetti previously worked together on The Social Network, so they have some form in making a film that's better than the book it's based on. On the other hand, De Luca produced Ghost Rider and The Love Guru, which were... less successful. Keep your eyes peeled for more movement on this project as it goes forward, and try to imagine how the heck this is going to work. Maybe they can get Aaron Sorkin to write the script; that worked well for **Twilight{ =nofollow}...
