The plot is paper-thin: Mick (Jordan) pulls a girl whose thuggish ex is apparently out for his blood. And that's about it. Like Marc Evans' Trauma, released last year, New Town Original strives to create tension via the ambiguous mental state of its protagonist, but fails to explore the theme effectively. The supporting cast is generally strong, but even their endeavours can't prevent this feeling like an over-earnest autobiographical work that's clearly suffered from a lack of objective distance.
