Original Title:

Mikey and Nicky

Peter Falk and John Cassavetes are a pair of bar flies — with the former hired by an underworld boss (Ned Beatty) to lure the latter to his death. But on a night seemingly without end, Falk, blue Burberry mac replacing customary brown one, battles to win over his conscience while Cassavetes mainly battles to stay on two feet in the face of some serious liquor intake. With a semblance of plot only occasionally interrupting the drunken interplay, this is redeemed only by the intense acting, well suited to the genre.

Well acted genre outing.
