This conventional slasher movie, escaping from the shelf after several years, is also a rare British attempt at a Die Hard-style action film.
A prison ship is wrecked, and a lacklustre cast of survivors wash up on an island dominated by a lighthouse. Among the escapees is a mad serial killer (Christopher Adamson) who murders those present indiscriminately.
One-note stereotypes are disposed of in effective but silly scenes; their elaborate attempts to escape are typically thwarted by knocking things over at the worst possible moment. However, the film works up some bravura as a storm lashes the lighthouse and heroes James Purefoy and Rachel Shelley dangle off a burning rope, while the killer survives the usual round of electrocution, battering, burning and stabbing.
