While driving down a lonely road, Agata (Fox) hits a little boy. She leaves her car to help the victim and another car runs over her and she falls in a deep coma. Her twin sister Catalina (also Fox) telepathically feels the pain of Agata.Searching for answers, she returns to the km 31 of the road, and find out that the place is surrounded by supernatural accidents caused by the ghost of a mother that lost her boy many years ago.
‘La llorona’ (the Crying Woman), a banshee-like spook, has featured in Mexican horror pictures since the ’30s, although in this latest incarnation she’s had a makeover based on recent Japanese ghost stories.
On a stretch of highway beside the eponymous marker, Agata (Fox) thinks she has knocked down a little boy. Looking for the body, she is herself run over. Twin sister Catalina (also Fox) shares a link with her comatose sibling and becomes obsessed with the accident black-spot, eventually being drawn into the tunnels where the creature lives.
