One key piece of casting is already in place for the sequel to 2014's Godzilla, as Stranger Things' Millie Bobby Brown joined Godzilla: King Of Monsters last month. Now we know who will be joining her, with word that Kyle Chandler is aboard.

Krampus' Michael Dougherty landed the job directing the film after impressing Legendary with the script he wrote alongside Zach Shields. Not much is known about the movie, besides the fact that it'll feature giant monster action featuring the atomic-spawned beastie. And most likely that'll mean new monstrous threats for 'Zilla to face. One thing we do know, at least, is that on the human side of things, Chandler will play Brown's father.

Variety's sources have heard that Ken Watanabe may also be present, reprising his role from the 2014 movie, but that has yet to be officially confirmed. This monster sequel is part of Legendary (and distribution partner Warner Bros.)'s plan to build a giant creatures universe, tying together Godzilla and King Kong with Kong: Skull Island due next month, King Of Monsters arriving 22 March 2019 and then Godzilla Vs. Kong on 22 May 2020.

Chandler will be seen in indie drama Sidney Hall and is about to start filming the final season of Netflix's Bloodline.
