Dom Hemingway Review

With his mutton-chopped jaw-jut and unflattering midriff beef-up, Jude Law here veers even further from his pretty-boy norm than he did for Road To Perdition. And that is the single virtue of Dom Hemingway. Frustratingly, given the vivacity of Law’s performance, the material is flimsy, derivative and, often, odious. For Dom is just another hateful geezer-thug who supposedly becomes entertaining by virtue of his florid verbosity (sample: “I’m steady as a trapeze artist’s cunt”), while the nasty little world he inhabits receives some surreal/pop-art trimmings. Yes, like Sexy Beast. And Bronson. Which you may as well re-watch instead.
