Fresh from winning an unexpected, but entirely deserved Best Male Newcomer trophy at this past weekend's Three Empire Awards, I, Daniel Blake's Dave Johns has scored a new film role, joining the cast of Harry Brown writer Gary Young's directorial debut, Two Graves.
Johns will share the screen with the likes of Cathy Tyson, David Hayman, Josh Herdman, Katie Jarvis, Danielle Harold and Kedar Williams-Stirling in the story of revenge and torture.
Set in the Northeast, the plot follows Tyson's doctor of pathology, whose son has been murdered. Believing she has tracked down the young man responsible for his death, she captures and tortures him, which only leads to more tragedy.
"I am absolutely thrilled that we’ve put together such an amazing cast," Young, who also wrote the script, tells Screen International. "Cathy Tyson, Katie Jarvis and Dave Johns are amazing actors from three of the most iconic British movies from the past 30 years, and it’s incredible, that in making my directorial debut, I managed to get all three of my first choices."
Keith Bell, Shantelle Rochester-Henry and Lorianne Hall are all aboard to produce the film, which kicks off shooting next week.
