Even by Takashi Miike's standards, this is a delightfully deranged film, chock-full of the oddest set-pieces: Matrix-style cockfights, improbable stunts and gladiatorial ping-pong.

The plot is convoluted and mainly serves to move us from one bit of visual trickery to another. Those unfamiliar with Miike will find this a wonderful introduction, while the rest will still have much to gape at.
