The original movie adaptation of Charles Dickens' sentimental tale of miserly Ebenezer Scrooge, who rejoins the human race following four spectral visitations on Christmas Eve. Modestly mounted by MGM standards, less resonant than Alistair Sim's definitive 1951 portrayal and less spooky than Albert Finney's 1970 musical version.

Despite the lack of MGM padding, still recognizably Dickensian
