Solid performances and excellent production values abound in this ’70s Brooklyn remake of a 2008 Jacques Maillot crime drama. But the plot about brothers on either side of the law is lumpen and disjointed and could easily be trimmed of 40 minutes.

Canet, who showed his aptitude with the gripping Tell No One, can't bring this dull period piece to life.
