Beyond The Edge

Edmund Hillary's ascent of Everest is ambitiously recreated, in 3D, in the Himalayas. Despite all the deep-vision panoramas, it’s a curiously hollow experience, a film fixated not on the man but on the dry mechanics of achievement. Hillary’s so distant you need binoculars, not 3D. Awesomely uninvolving.

Considering the danger, spectacular setting and sheer derring-do of its subject matter, this is pretty leaden stuff. Disappointing.
