US sitcom star Fran Drescher (a.k.a. Spinal Tap's Bobbi Fleckman) toplines this featherlight fairy tale as a make-up artist mistaken for a science teacher and whisked off to a tiny Eastern European community, there to educate the children of rasping dictator Timothy Dalton.
Soppy romantic longings and the odd comic moment understandably develop, in spite of Dalton's unforgivable lip fur and Drescher's glass-destroying Nooo Yawk accent. No-one really stands out in this flick (which quite possibly had it's name before a script, a cast or an idea) however, if you want to see Drescher at her best watch her all-conquering role in the series The Nanny it is far funnier than any of the inoffensive nonsense on display here.
