He's already been part of the superhero world after playing Norman Osborne (AKA the Green Goblin) back in Sam Raimi's first Spider-Man. Now Willem Dafoe is switching his allegiance to DC, taking a role in Zack Snyder's Justice League films.

At least, one assumes he's in both films – Snyder is making two movies with the assembled heroes and we don't yet know what character Dafoe is playing. There's a chance he could rumoured big bad, Darkseid, who was teased in Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice, but The Hollywood Reporter's story has him playing a "good guy." Ooh! Guy Smiley! No, wrong intellectual property...

Either way, what we do know is that the film will assemble Henry Cavill's Superman, Ben Affleck's Batman, Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa's Aquaman, Ezra Miller's The Flash and Ray Fisher's Cyborg to tackle a huge new threat. With J.K. Simmons aboard as Gotham City's Commissioner Gordon, Snyder is cranking the cameras for Part One now from Chris Terrio's script. The first movie is scheduled for November 17 next year, while Part Two should arrive on June 14, 2019.

Dafoe has worked on several movies recently, including The Headhunter's Calling, What Happened To Monday? and The Great Wall, which is out in the UK on February 24 next year.
