What side will you choose?
When faced with a choice between an Xbox 360 or PS3, the sensible money would be on Microsofts offering, what with its sprawling library, wide variety of software and expansive Xbox Live community. On the other hand, depending on which side of the Force you fall on, Soulcalibur IV may have you forking out for Sonys gaming behemoth just to play as your favourite villain.
While Soulcalibur still features all the kinky fighters, imaginative backdrops and brutal swordplay that made the series an undisputed classic, this update features classic Star Wars characters exclusive to each console, with Yoda strutting his stuff on the green-logoed Xbox, while Dark Side poster boy Darth Vader casts a shadow over the edition released on the shiny black PS3.
Even without the Star Wars warriors, Soulcalibur IV would still be an instant classic destructive environments, customisable characters and awe-inspiring graphics helping to update the familiar game and should be an essential purchase for fight fans currently starved of quality releases. But while playing as Yoda is fun, its hard to resist the lure of the Dark Side, making the PS3 edition the way to go for savage swashbuckling.
