An adventure that looks and feels much like the movie that inspired it - which is saying something
Making a Robots game that looks as good as its big-screen counterpart was always going to be a challenge, but the British developers have just about pulled it off. Working closely with Robots creator Blue Sky and winning approval for a huge range of additional characters they have created an adventure that looks and feels much like the movie that inspired it. The films bewildering scale has also been replicated with style, the designers using backdrops supplied by Blue Sky to make its Robot City just as impressive as the Hollywood vision.
Sadly, though, what Robots gains in authentic visuals it loses in basic gameplay; although the novel upgrade system where players collect spare parts to beef up their rusty hero will keep younger players gripped as they try to build the best bot in town, seasoned gamers will be frustrated by the derivative action and repetitive challenges that have been ripped off from a range of classic platformers.
