Although born amidst Hitler docs and Nostradamus specials, History’s first stab at scripted drama is far from staid. Charting the rise of warrior Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel), Vikings is a woad-streaked tale of scheming, slaughter and recreational pillaging that puts drama before historical pedantry. Carnage, with plaited beards to spare.
