While it may not have the urgency of The Wire or Generation Kill (rather than gunfights, we’re dealing with post-Katrina New Orleans’ grief and anger), David Simon’s signature rule still applies: all the pieces matter. Persistence will be rewarded, and again you’ll marvel at a parade of excellent performances, but that lack of a narrative kick does make Treme feel occasionally sluggish.
