Persuaders: Complete Box Set, The Review

Roger Moore and Tony Curtis team up in this derivative, fun series. Moore’s Lord Brett Sinclair, an uppercrust Brit of impeccable breeding, and Curtis’ Danny Wilde, an up-from-the-streets self-made man whose trademark is a pair of brown gloves, swan around the world getting involved in perplexing mysteries. The allegedly tasteful Brett and the crasser Danny both model ranges of garish fab fashions, and their pursuit of duplicitous crumpet usually winds up with the girl getting away and the two stuck with each other, making them the gayest of many 1970s buddy heroes, sublimating their feelings for each other by popping off guns at baddies. Note the great range of character-actor villains and vintage dolly-birds.
