Character is always key to cop shows, and CSI: Miamis main problem is that it doesnt have any characters, only the cynical casting of ex-NYPD Blue co-stars David Caruso and Kim Delaney, and a demographically correct supporting cast (white chick, black chick, Latino guy, young buck etc).
The writers have done their homework, but the orange-filtered photography is as dated as a Miami Vice re-run. The foolproof forensics formula survives the odd episode but fans should stick to the superior Las Vegas-set original.
