If anyone ever walked up to you during the early ’90s and screeched “STONEYBRIDGE!” in a falsetto Scottish accent, here’s the reason why. With its absurdist sketches, Channel 4’s Absolutely was a big influence on The Fast Show and The League Of Gentlemen, and it’s worn well. Moray Hunter’s anorak-clad Calum Gilhooley retains a smart sting of pathos, and the Town Council’s attempts to get their little slip of nowhere on the map still tickle. We’re less sure about the abstractly menacing Don and George; it’s kind of a mystery why they were the only characters to get a spin-off…
