Last year, just as the pandemic really began to hit home – and many needed to stay home – a scandalous docuseries Tiger King hit Netflix and caused a pop cultural tidal wave of debate about its outsized real-life personalities, and the murder, mayhem and deeply questionable animal care. Though its moment seemed to have passed (despite more than one scripted project planned about the story), Netflix has announced a second season for later this year.

No exact details have been revealed about the new episodes, though directors Eric Goode, Rebecca Chaiklin are back to chronicle the continuing story of big cat enthusiast (and gay gun nut) Joseph Maldonado-Passage, aka Joe Exotic, currently in prison for ordering a hit on self-proclaimed animal activist Carole Baskin. We reviewed the original run right here, and the first batch of episodes was followed by an After-Show.

The return of Tiger King forms part of a new Netflix strand called The Home Of True Crime, which will also feature a variety of other shows about conmen, Tinder fraudsters and the suspicious death of cryptocurrency multimillionaire Gerry Cotten. You can see a promo clip below.
