Post-apocalyptic drama is a familiar subject, and one that people might not necessarily rush to watch, given what has been happening in the past year or so. Still, Sweet Tooth, which is adapted from Jeff Lemire's comic and boasts Robert Downey Jr. and Susan Downey among its producers, looks to offer something a little different, a little more fantastical. Check out the first trailer for the series.

Hap And Leonard creator Jim Mickle ran the show alongside Arrowverse veteran Beth Schwartz. Sweet Tooth, created for DC Vertigo, is the coming-of-age fable of Gus, a boy/deer hybrid who leaves home to find the world ravaged by a cataclysmic event. He joins a ragtag family of hybrids and humans searching to find answers behind the event... Ultimately discovering a vast conspiracy that forces him to question his very existence. Will Forte, Christian Convery, Nonso Anozie and Adeel Akhtar are among the cast for this one.

"We wanted to make a show that offers escape and adventure, where nature is reclaiming the world and in many ways it feels like a fairytale," says Mickle. "Sweet Tooth is a new kind of dystopian story, it’s very lush and hopeful. We want people to come into this world where there’s beauty and hope and adventure. This is a sweeping story — we ride on trains, climb mountaintops, run through forests. This is a show about what makes a family, what home really means, and why it’s important to keep faith in humanity.”

Once homed at Hulu across the pond, it has since shifted to Netflix, and the first, eight-episode season will launch on the streaming service on 4 June.
