Listen up, bounty hunters – Boba Fett is back. If it’s been a slightly quieter year on the Star Wars front (with Dave Filoni’s latest animated series The Bad Batch and recent anime anthology Star Wars: Visions leading the way), things are about to ramp up once again in the live-action arena. That’s because the galaxy far, far away’s fan-favourite Mandalorian-armour-clad warrior is getting his own series, The Book Of Boba Fett, and we now have our first proper look at it – as well as an official release date.

Star Wars: The Book Of Boba Fett

As The Mandalorian Season 2 finale confirmed, Temuera Morrison’s older, Sarlacc-surviving Boba Fett will be back in The Book Of Boba Fett, which we now know will be streaming on Disney+ starting from 29 December. Think of it as a late Christmas present. And the first poster has him as we last saw him in the Mando Season 2 credits sting: sat on the throne in what used to be Jabba’s palace, ready to… well, who knows what exactly?

It’s unknown quite what the series will be – whether it’ll depict exactly how Boba Fett survived his apparent fate in Return Of The Jedi, or if it’ll be primarily set in the same time period as Mando (roughly five years after the end of the Original Trilogy). What we do know is that the series is produced by Filoni, Jon Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, and Robert Rodriguez – the latter of whom has directed several episodes, and helmed the Boba-centric instalment of The Mandalorian’s second season. Other directors on the series include, Favreau, Filoni, and Bryce Dallas Howard. The Mandalorian composer Ludwig Göransson is also returning to score the show. As well as Morrison, the series will star Ming-Na Wen as her recurring Mando character Fennec Shand.

It’s unknown how many episodes the series will take place across, but it’s something to keep us all going until The Mandalorian Season 3 reaches our screens – hopefully not too late into 2022. Best of all? We should be seeing more of The Book Of Boba Fett in November on Disney+ Day. Bring it on.
