Thanks to Squid Game proving to be one of Netflix's biggest hits, there has naturally been chatter about a potential second season, with creator Hwang Dong-hyuk talking last month about starting work on it. How things change, as he's also now saying that he's also been meeting with the streaming service about a third.
"I'm in talks with Netflix over season 2 as well as season 3," Hwang said in an online interview with Korean broadcaster KBS, as reported by The Korea Times. "We will come to a conclusion any time soon."
It's hardly a shock that Netflix would want to strike while the iron is white hot, though you do worry about burn out. Still, given how long it took him to get the first season made, we're sure the ideas are already there.
Season 2, for example, will focus on the continuing story of Lee Jung jae's Seong Gi-hun, the down-on-his luck central figure who won the game only to learn new secrets about the dark competition that pits hard up people in lethal versions of childhood games with the promise of riches.
