Though Amazon's huge, expensive Lord Of The Rings adaptation has little connection to the movies (it's set during a different time period, and Peter Jackson isn't involved), but the team behind it is now aiming to make a big link. Howard Shore, who won three Oscars working on Jackson's films, is in talks to compose the music for the show.
Developed by J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay, the LOTR show, which Amazon paid millions to buy the rights to and is spending more on making, wrapped its first season in New Zealand earlier this year, and will move to the UK for the second season, due to start pre-production in early 2022.
The cast includes Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Robert Aramayo, Owain Arthur, Maxim Baldry, Nazanin Boniadi, Morfydd Clark, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Charles Edwards, Trystan Gravelle and Lenny Henry, and the first episodes will launch on Amazon's Prime Video service on 2 September next year.
