With stellar TV performances including The Leftovers, The Sinner and Fargo already under her belt – not to mention The Nest and Ghostbusters: Afterlife on the big screen recently – Carrie Coon is now taking a step backwards into period drama with her role as Bertha in Julian Fellowes’ lavish new show The Gilded Age. Out now on Sky Atlantic / NOW, it tracks the social climbing of two households in New York in the 1880s, as ‘new money’, new-in-town Bertha clashes with the ‘old money’, old-school mindset of Christine Baranski’s Agnes.
