If there's one thing this unusually thoughtful sci-fi series can never be accused of, its resting on its laurels. The entire format is turned inside out yet again for the start of the third season, picking up a year on with the crew living in planetside internment camps under the watchful eye of the Cylons. Its a welcome change in format while it lasts (four episodes) and even after we return to the stars, the subsequent fractures keep things fresh and interesting.
The insistence on rewriting the rules is slightly less welcome in later episodes, though, leaving a major character unexpectedly dead and prompting a shocking finale that may prove to be the shows first real misstep.
