Tony Kaye is a director whose post-American History X career has found more in the way of controversy than success. But he's been ploughing ahead and can usually be relied upon to come up with a different idea. One such concept is to find an actual robot to act in a new film, called 2nd Born.

In what sounds even more like he's pranking the world, it'll be a sequel to indie comedy 1st Born, which is awaiting release. The movie, which finds Tom Berenger and Jay Abdo as grandfathers who must put aside their racial and cultural divides to help save the life of their first grandchild. Quite how the robotic thespian will fit into the sequel remains to be seen, but according to Deadline, Kaye and writer/producer Sam Khoze are looking to eschew CGI or a robot suit to find some actual AI that can be taught acting techniques and eventually score Screen Actors Guild accreditation.

With the likes of Val Kilmer, Greg Grunberg, Taylor Cole and Denise Richards in the cast of the original, Kaye is looking to include some of the actors in the sequel. Can't wait to see if this one actually comes together, but if we're honest, the perfect lead is already in existence and available...
