Having tackled one of cinema's most iconic Harrison Ford roles (albeit in the shape of Alden Ehrenreich's prequel version in Solo: A Star Wars Story), Jonathan Kasdan has reportedly been hired to provide words for another, taking over the writing of Indiana Jones 5.

According to Collider (there has been no official word from Lucasfilm yet), Kasdan will replace David Koepp, who had been at work on the script and has left for unknown reasons (though he has a directorial effort of his own in development).

Steven Spielberg had been aiming to have the next Indy movie (whatever it ens up being called) shooting next April in the UK ready for a July 2020 release, but Variety reports that production will now be delayed and the result will miss the original scheduled spot on the calendar. Collider's sources weren't clear on whether Kasdan is doing a total re-write or if he'll simply polish what Koepp has come up with, but the delay makes it sound like more work will be involved. And this move keeps Indy in the family – Kasdan's father Lawrence famous wrote Raiders Of The Lost Ark. No pressure, then.
