The last time we saw Sandra Bullock tackle of a political nature on screen, it was 2015's Our Brand Is Crisis. She's now attached to another project that draws from real life, Let Her Speak.

Mario Correa wrote the script, which draws from the events in the Texas State Senate in June 2013, when Democratic Senator Wendy Davis drew headlines by staging a 13-hour filibuster. Her efforts thwarted her Republican opponents' plans to introduce newly restrictive laws on abortion, which in turn led to a Supreme Court victory on reproductive rights.

And Davis' story itself is also interesting, showing how a teen mother made her way to Harvard and then into politics, changing her life and that of others. Bullock is waiting to see who comes aboard to direct the film before she finally commits, but this one should hit the fast track if the right filmmaker can be found.

The actress has Ocean's Eight due on 22 June next year, and is about to work on sci-fi thriller Bird Box.
