Ready for a new round of Did Not See That Coming? Ryan Reynolds is joining the cast of the new Pokemon movie, Detective Pikachu. Yep, it's either a great script or this is the most inventive Deadpool 2 marketing stunt yet.

Rob Letterman is in the director for the film, which will feature Justice Smith and Kathryn Newton. Reynolds is, according to The Hollywood Reporter, going to suit up in performance capture gear to play the title character, a form of Pikachu who is particularly good at finding things and has become a self-styled investigator.

As for anything else about the movie, that's being kept tightly within a Pokeball, but we do know that the cameras will star shooting next month in London.

Reynolds will appear in the aforementioned Deadpool sequel, which is scheduled to burst into UK cinemas on 1 June next year.
