Animated movies represent fun times for actors – while they often require lots of different line readings and changes through the years of production, they also mean you can show up in your casual clothes and muck about behind a microphone. Natalie Portman is on board to produce and lend her voice to a new 'toon called Foxy Trotter.

Chris Prynoski is in the director's chair, with a script from Jess Rotter, Michael Reich, Jessica Hundley and Mike Pinkney. Foxy Trotter follows a motorcycle-riding rock 'n' roll photographer blazing a trail in the 1970s, and is on a mission to find the perfect rock photo. Portman is playing Foxy's best friend, Ronnie, who is seduced by her arch-rival, Gunther, and becomes part of his plan to destroy the universe. The film represents Bold Films' attempt to break into the animated film world, and seem happy to be working with Portman. "We are thrilled to launch this inventive, sexy, psychedelic, hilarious, female-oriented animated film with such a glowingly talented star and producer like Natalie Portman,” says Bold's Michel Litvak. The film is described as a blend of Barbarella, Easy Rider and, er, Sausage Party. So we'll see what that means.

In related news about actors taking animated gigs, a new version of Jack London's classic 1906 tale White Fang, there's a Parks And Recreation reunion afoot, as Rashida Jones and Nick Offerman are in the film. The story of a canine pulled between life in the wild and domestication with humans, Offerman and Jones will play two humans he encounters.

Mr. Hublot short film Oscar winner Alexandre Espirages is attached to direct, and there's no sign of a release date yet.
