The Blumhouse team is fast developing a reputation for attracting filmmakers to its low-budget horror/thriller aesthetic. And the latest acquisition will mark a Stir Of Echoes reunion, as Kevin Bacon and director David Koepp are working together on You Should Have Left.

Bacon is responsible for getting this one moving initially; he found Daniel Kehlmann's book, published last year, brought it to Koepp and they optioned it together. Now Jason Blum's company has agreed to make the movie, which Koepp has adapted and will direct.

Kehlmann's tome tells of a scriptwriter who heads to an isolated house in the Alps with his wife and daughter so he can focus on working on a sequel to the big hit movie he wrote. But – and prepare for it to be compared to The Shining – strange occurrences start to chip away at his sanity. The cameras should be rolling on this one later in the year.
