His film career might not have taken the trajectory some suspected from his early work, but Haley Joel Osment continues to find solid employment, often on TV, including a recent stint on Silicon Valley. He's adding to that small screen roster with a role on the next run of The X-Files.
The next limited series run of the show – following the revival early last year – is scheduled to arrive in January. David Duchovny's Mulder and Gillian Anderson's Scully are naturally back, investigating more weirdness and unlocking more conspiracy mythology (though hopefully not to as annoying a degree as last time).
Fox has yet to reveal details on Osment's character, but according to Deadline, he'll feature heavily in the Skinner-focused episode, so could he be a family member for everyone's favourite Assistant Director, played by Mitch Pileggi?
Osment joins a guest cast that also includes William B. Davis, Annabeth Gish, Robbie Amell, Lauren Ambrose and Barbara Hershey.
