Announcing earlier this year that she's "done" with The X-Files (which has not found a new slot on US network Fox's schedule for the coming TV season), Gillian Anderson is available to work on other films and series, and has now joined a new coming-of-age comedy drama called Sex Education.

Asa Butterfield is also on for the show, which will follow his character, Otis, a socially awkward virgin navigating the tricky waters of high school. He lives with his mother Jean (Anderson), a sex therapist, and their home is filled with all manner of manuals, videos and books on the subject. When his classmates learn about his housemates, Otis aims to spin it to his advantage, teaming up with Maeve (Emma Mackey) to set up an underground sex therapy clinic to help students deal with their issues.

And while it does help him gain status, Otis starts to realise he could use some therapy of his own. Created by Laurie Nunn and now being directed by Catastophe's Ben Taylor, Sex Education will hit Netflix next year.
