There's an Emma swap happening for the cast of Greta Gerwig's latest. While the Lady Bird writer/director had Emma Stone at the heart of her next film, an adaptation of Little Women, she's had to drop out for scheduling reasons and Emma Watson is stepping in to replace her.

Gerwig had written the latest screen version of Louisa May Alcott's novel and more recently agreed to direct, wrangling together an impressive cast that also includes Meryl Streep, Laura Dern, Saoirse Ronan, Timothée Chalamet, James Norton and Florence Pugh.

Variety's report mentions that the roles are still being worked out, though the IMDB lists Watson as Meg March. Stone, who had been in negotiations to join the film, will be too busy promoting The Favourite.

Watson, last seen in Beauty And The Beast and The Circle, will make Little Women as her next film.
