The long wait for more from The Handmaid's Tale is nearly over, as Season 2 is due to launch on Hulu in the States in a little less than a month. To mark that fact, a new trailer is online.

Still keeping its secrets, the new trailer nevertheless gives a deeper glimpse as to what will be happening with Elisabeth Moss' Offred – who at one point here declares her freedom and reminds us that her name is actually June Osborn – Samira Wiley's Moira (dealing with life as a refugee from the dystopian theocracy that is Gilead) and Alexis Bledel's Ofglen/Emily, who has been sent to the Colonies, one of the polluted work camps used as a main punishment by the authorities.

Among the newcomers to the cast this year will be Marisa Tomei (her role remains unclear at this point) and Bradley Whitford (as Commander Joseph Lawrence, described as "a gruff, intimidating man with a sly sense of humour" who is the chief architect of Gilead’s economy), while the story will deal both with elements of original novel author Margaret Atwood's world saved from the first season and enter uncharted territory, with Atwood still involved as a consultant.

The Handmaid's Tale is back in the US on 25 April, but there has been no confirmed date for the show's return to Channel 4 here.
