Spy thrillers are a stalwart genre in the film world and there's yet another in the works. Diane Kruger and Eric Bana are making deals to star in The Operative.

This one comes from Bethlehem writer/director Yuval Adler and will follow the story of a woman (Kruger, assuming she signs on), recruited by the Mossad to go undercover in Tehran. Because a film like this can't be that simple, she becomes enmeshed in a triangle with her handler and her target.

Adler has used former Israeli intelligence officer Yiftach Reicher Atir's bestselling memoir The English Teacher, and the film's rights will be for sale at the Berlin Film Festival next week.

Kruger has In The Fade due here on 22 June and is also part of the cast for Robert Zemeckis' The Women Of Marwen. Bana was most recently seen in The Forgiven, which played at the London Film Festival last year, but has yet to lock down a solid UK release date.
