Usually found causing criminal trouble in the likes of Sherlock and last year's Bond outing Spectre, Andrew Scott is switching to the other side of the law for a new crime thriller called Steel Country. He'll star alongside Branagh Waugh and Denise Gough.

With a script by Brendan Higgins, the new thriller sees Scott as a small-town truck driver who decides to investigate the murder of a young boy. The child was found dead in a sleepy part of Western Pennsylvania, and the further that our man digs into the case, the deeper his obsession grows and the more harrowing the consequences become.

Malice In Wonderland's Simon Fellows is aboard to call the shots and will be kicking things off in Georgia on Friday. “We’re absolutely delighted to be able to announce this brilliant cast boarding Steel Country," producer Gareth Ellis-Unwin tells Screen International. "It’s a whip smart script, that I am sure in Simon’s capable hands will deliver a fantastic contemporary film with a classic sheen. It’s the quality of script I’ve always dreamt of finding."

Scott is on screens now in Swallows And Amazons and will be seen in Denial, which arrives on February 3 next year. Waugh has a voice performance in Kickstarter-backed drama Axis, which was directed by Aisha Tyler, while Gough is set to appear in Idris Elba-produced drama Guerilla.
