Original Title:

Wolf Man, The

Husky Larry Talbot (Lon Chaney Jr.) returns to his ancestral home in

a Hollywood Welsh village (complete with a cathedral and nearby gypsy camp) and is bitten by a lupine fortune-teller (Bela Lugosi), whereupon he transforms into the last of Universal’s truly classic monsters when the moon is full, stalking through wonderfully foggy fake forests to menace young ladies. Still the definitive werewolf movie.

A classic of its time and genre.
