Heroes Shed No Tears

1986’s Heroes Shed No Tears marks the first time that John Woo brandished firearms with any serious intent, and is an obvious forerunner to his Vietnam-set Bullet In The Head (in every respect a superior film).

Often little more than a series of semi-coherent, sadistic episodes, punctuated  by ill-judged ‘humour’ and brief sexual titillation, it follows a ragtag band of Thai-sponsored mercenaries fleeing with a kidnapped drug lord; really of interest purely to see Woo’s emerging style.

Interesting mainly for John Woo enthusiasts.
