Zachary Quinto As George Gershwin?

He's known as a brainy-slicing villain on TV's Heroes and a brainy hero in Star Trek, but can Zachary Quinto write music? According to Deadline Hollywood, he may have to fake it 'till he makes it, as he's signed on to play legendary composer George Gershwin in a new biopic that Steven Spielberg may end up directing.

[

DreamWorks picked up a script from Memoirs Of A Geisha writer Doug Wright](http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118010539.html?categoryid=13&cs=1) last year which follows Gershwin's life from his early days as the child of Russian immigrants in Brooklyn to his incredible career writing more than a dozen musicals with older brother Ira.

Among his most famous work? A little ditty called 'Rhapsody In Blue', easily one of the most recognizable pieces of music in the world. But Gershwhin's story also has a sorry ending - he died at the age of 38 in Hollywood from a brain tumour.

Quinto is apparently getting voice coaching for the role, which could kick off shooting in April. But before all you Gershwin fans get excited/peeved at the idea, remember this - it's Steven Spielberg we're talking about. He still hasn't locked in which film he'll handle next and the biopic is apparently up against two other strong contenders (Lincoln at last?) for his time post-Tintin. And until there's something official out there, this remains in the rumour category.
