He broke through to a new level thanks to starring in this year’s superhero comedy Shazam!, and Zachary Levi is scoring a new gig. He’s on to go all Bourne/Bond with a new action comedy called Spy Guys.
New Line, which also produced his caped adventure, has Tag director Jeff Tomasic on to make the movie, working from Adam Sztykiel’s script. Spy Guys will see Levi as a super-skilled operative who gets into trouble while on a mission. The only help he can count on are his moronic college friends, who conveniently happen to be with him.
The Lonely Island team – better known as Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone and Akiva Schaffer – are producing the film, which the studio aims to put into production before Levi is back on duty for the Shazam! sequel.
