Comic book series Witchblade - which was turned into a short-lived, but successful US TV show in 2001 – is now being primed for its movie close-up.

The plot of the Top Cow comic follows female New York police detective Sara “Pezz” Pezzini, who is chosen to take possession of a mystical and powerful weapon that she uses to battle crime and evil.

Platinum Studios are partnering with Top Cow’s film arm to produce two films back-to-back. There is no writer, director or cast attached yet, but the two films are budgeted at a purse-string friendly $40 million.
