Will Smith Tops US Box Office

Will Smith proved over the weekend that he can drive any movie to blockbuster numbers, even when there's not an explosion in sight. Smith's Pursuit of Happyness, a gentle drama about a man trying to escape poverty for the sake of his child, took an impressive $27million. In topping the chart, Pursuit of Happyness helped Sony Pictures break its 2002 record for annual takings, with around $1.6billion for the year.

In number 2 Eragon proved that you can shift any old crap if you put a dragon in it. The woeful fantasy tosh burned its critics to a crisp, taking a solid $23.5million. Not Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings numbers by any stretch, but surprisingly good for such a universally scorned film.

Bringing up the rear was Babe 3, sorry Charlotte's Web in third place with $12million. And so to the rest of the weeks top earners. Will you start the charts please?!
