New Baby For Will Ferrell!
Regular readers of Empire will know that we love Will Ferrell to itsy-bitsy pieces. Anchorman is a masterpiece, his stint on SNL full of chucklesome moments, and Stranger Than Fiction has, just this year, shown that there’s more to Ferrell than shouting loudly and falling over. So it’s with a great big smile on our collective face that we congratulate Will and his lady wife, Viveca Paulson (she’s Swedish, or Chinese; something weird) on the birth of their second child, Mattias. Their first son is called Magnus – told you Mrs. Ferrell was Swedish!
New Charlotte Hatherley Video
As Hot Fuzz gets ever closer, here’s something to tide you Edgar Wright completists over: it’s a new music video by former Ash guitarist Charlotte Hatherley (or Edgar’s other half), directed by Edgar’s brother, Oscar! Entitled Behave, it’s the first single from her new album, The Deep Blue, which is out in March. You can download it all now, or watch the rather cool manga/sci-fi/videogame-influenced promo by getting your ass over to YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mUQL5pwUCAY and pondering this simple question: is the world big enough for not one, but two, directing Wrights? (Three if you count Pride & Prejudice’s Joe, but since he’s not related, we’re leaving him out of this)
Amanda Bynes is Sydney White
What the world needs now, sang Burt Bacharach once, is love, sweet love. What it doesn’t need, he probably would have sung if he could have been arsed and if he knew who the hell she was, was another bleedin’ Amanda Bynes movie. And yet, here we are, announcing that Ms. Bynes is to star in Sydney White (also known as Sydney White and the Seven Dorks, which should give you an idea of the level of humour we’re talking about), which is about a college freshman who enrols at her mother’s old fraternity, only to find herself lumbered with, erm, several dorks as company. The usual guff about finding the hero within and being true to yourself then applies.
Jay Mohr Loves Cox!
Nikki Cox, that is. Or should we say, Nikki Mohr? Yes, that’s right – on this slowest of slow news days, we’re reduced to reporting the marriage of that guy who fired Jerry Maguire, to that girl from the TV show, Las Vegas. The happy couple got hitched on Friday in Los Angeles. We wish them both well, of course. Quick fact: Nikki Cox was once engaged to Bobcat Goldthwait from the Police Academy movies. So she’s clearly moving in the right direction with Mohr.
