Hardly standard fare for Tinsletown, but Val Kilmer is to play a man virtually blind since birth. After a groundbreaking operation to restore his vision there's a happy ending. Only joking. He is thrown into a terrifying world of sensory overload. Presumably his experience as a bat should help. It's taken from Oliver Sacks' book, An Anthropologist on Mars.
